Light Reading wrote down some predictions on SDN for 2013:
SDN won’t drive Cisco and its rivals out of business in 2013. But the carriers have heard the commodity argument, and they’re intrigued. Any sign that it’s becoming a practical reality would be bad news for vendors, especially Cisco.
I’m not sure if the prediction that standards will be run over will come true. The ONF is an organization far outside the known standards bodies. If they really manage to overrun standards then it is the beginning of a long lasting era.
