Google is closing down Reader on the first of July. Apparently due to a decline in usage. The remaining users have to go somewhere:
More than 500,000 Google Reader users have joined the feedly community over the last 48 hours. We love passionate readers. Welcome on board.
Assumed that part of these 500k is only testing Feedly and not everyone is moving to Feedly and not within 48 hours this figure is astonishing. Why was Reader closing down?
Other good news came from my favorite app on the IOS platform Reeder…
Don’t worry, Reeder won’t die with Google Reader.
I wonder what he will be using as a backend, and if he will introduce a webapp. Because sometimes I want to read news in a browser. We’ll see what more alternatives are popping up.
