COBOL for the Unemployed

Two Dutch municipalities are going to offer COBOL training to unemployed people. COBOL knowledge is declining worldwide, but it seems that the amount of COBOL implementations is not. COBOL is still in use a lot in government, banking and other places.

Around the year 2000 COBOL knowledge was hot, because most of the COBOL software was not Y2K compliant. The current rise and need for COBOL knowledge reminds me of that time. Although my hope was that the amount of installations would have dropped significantly.

Maybe I should learn COBOL at Codecademy… Oh, wait …
